DREEHEMINGWAY/VALENTINO

in love with this dree hemingway for valentino series. how do you get to be ernest hemingway's great-granddaughter AND be this ridiculously gorgeous? talk about luck of the draw...

also- i have a quick question for you. since we bloggers are the epitome of influence and BEING influenced- what is your opinion on how far it can go? is it okay to blatantly rip something/someone off, or should you always make it your own? i think my opinion is the same as most- the only way to be truly original is to have your OWN swagger, your OWN spin on things. you can only be influenced so much until you lose your own identity and morph into someone/something that isn't you at all.
thoughts/opinions?

Insist upon yourself. Be original.” -Ralph Waldo Emerson

thanks for posting these, they are fantastic! i love everything about them.

i agree, the only way to be original is to just be yourself.

I am guilty of taking other peoples designs. For instance, dresses that I have seen from other designers and made for myself. I can't afford them but I know how to make/recreate them. I wont sell them so why not copy them for my own wearing pleasure?? In that sense I think it's ok, but I am still guilty. But then again, what is original these days? and I always make sure to give credit where it is due.

All you can really do is dress for yourself, wear what YOU like and what looks good on YOU. Not that drawing inspiration from someone else is bad, because that's what blogging is all about in my opinion, but you shouldn't go around completely copying someone else's outfits or everything that they own just because they own it or they wore it and you want to look like them. Then you are truly loosing yourself and being un-original.

sorry for the rant, hope you are doing great in LA.

so stunning! and its fine line between channeling and copying... if it doesn't sit well with you, its probably more copy than channel... I suppose...

anyway, just my two cents,

ohhhh isis, that was a brilliant response. i completely agree with it all. the end of it is exactly what i was talking about- when all originality is lost because you're just trying to BECOME somebody else. it's shit. but of course being inspired by something is legitimate and unavoidable.
hope you're well! if you're even in LA we should grab coffee. :) xx
