BIRTHDAY SUIT

yesterday was my birthday, and the best part about it was spending it with one of my best friends who flew all the way from SF to see me for less than 24 hours! that's what i call a good friend. before i picked her up from the airport, i spent some time on melrose doing a little birthday shopping (at least that's the excuse i made for buying clothes... there's always something) and found these AMAZING super high waisted velvet leopard? print pants for 12 bucks at SLOW. also got this awesome shredded tank at Wasteland where i spotted Rumi Neely and Brian Boy, who appeared to be costume shopping...

last night was incredible. we walked to elysian park, put down a blanket, lit a circle of candles around us, put on some spiritualized and spent hours laying there... it was magic.

OCTOBER MORNING

the weather in los angeles has been IMMACULATE this week. i really don't think i could handle living anywhere else... i'm such a die-hard california girl that i start whining and busting out the heavy coats when the temperature dips below 65. i think that's how most los angelons are though- yesterday i saw a woman walking down the street in what seemed to resemble a snow suit when it was in the mid-sixties. we're just a bunch of babies over here on the west coast. i'm fine with it.

this morning was spent at fred 62, my all-time favorite diner in los feliz, eating miniature pancakes and inhaling coffee... followed by another walk in the park where we stumbled upon a somewhat neon blue dyed creek/waterfall.

ELYSIAN PARK

elysian park is practically my backyard, so i finally went and explored it a little bit. i'll be having many picnics here with my boyfriend in the near future.

Sunday Afternoon

while in the central coast, i ALWAYS make time to visit a good portion of the local antique stores... i usually find the most incredible jewelry for insanely cheap prices, but this time... i somehow stumbled upon these vintage Oscar de la Renta sunnies, for less than 30 bucks! i walked around the store wearing them for a good 30 minutes, asking my boyfriend his opinion every other second... we came to the conclusion that i needed them. he's supportive like that.

i found this cardigan at salvation army, and it originally had an attached vest...? who does that? anyway, i cut it out. much better. also wearing a ridiculously cute (and perfect fitting- so hard to find a romper that FITS ME) romper that i found at a thrift store for 2 bucks... (pardon the wrinkles, it's very temperamental fabric) worn with american apparel thigh high socks and my old faithfuls: deena and ozzy platforms.

i'm officially tired of my hair... but so scared to go back dark! all this effort to go blonde, and i'm sick of it already... what to do? suggestions please!

MORRO BAY PICNIC

spent the day at the beach with a makeshift picnic of hummus, pita, cucumber salad and bruschetta, which was all sinfully delicious. started out wearing this h&m maxi dress and slowly added more components as the weather got colder and ended up with this crazy bag lady ensemble that was as comfortable as it looks...

I FINALLY OWN A PAIR OF DOC MARTENS!!! i have wanted a pair for-fucking-ever but somehow never purchased any in all these years... i found these in my exact size at the thrift store yesterday! meant to be! and by the way, they are the most perfect rain boots EVER.

also, i HAD to try on the amazing sweater that laura and i found yesterday for the upcoming SLEEPWALKER collection. isn't it amazing?! it's just one of many great pieces we found... so so many exciting things happening with the business, including an amazing giveaway being announced tomorrow night on our facebook page!

PHOSPHENE DREAM

i could not be more in love with this weather. after having a record breaking heatwave just last week, today it was a perfectly chilly 60 degrees while drizzling rain... i've always been a die-hard summer girl, but i feel myself starting to (FINALLY) lean towards winter wardrobe and rainy overcast days. maybe it's just a phase... but i hope not.

i wore this to see dead meadow last night, sans the hat. i picked up these J-Brand tie dye jeans at nordstrom rack at an ADDITIONAL 40% off of the already marked down price... double score. the sweater is an oversized vintage gem from the goodwill, and i couldn't resist the urge to mix pattens and throw on my jeffrey campbell cheetah print boots. also wearing an urban outfitters hat, driftwood necklace, vintage cross necklace, and cast bird skull necklace from the swap meet.
