NEW STOCK / NEW LIFE

hey!
have you checked out the shop lately? lots of stuff up for grabs right now, including a huge re-list of anything you might've missed out on!

so today was a HUGE DAY for me. i have my very own STUDIO now!!! crystallized, as of this monday, will now be run from a GORGEOUS 800sf studio in downtown LA, squished in between the american apparel warehouse and the forever 21 warehouse, and right down the street from my current place of employment- unearthen. i mean, it's the garment district, it's full of amazing shit.
this is the craziest leap i've ever taken (other than selling everything i owned and hopping a plane to australia for 5 months) and i could not be happier. i'm actually in shock. anyway, i plan to do what i've always dreamed of doing- designing my own line of clothing. i've been working on it for a few months now, and have seriously lacked inspiration, but now that i have my very own creative space with a breathtaking skyline view of downtown los angeles, i don't think i'll be lacking inspiration any longer. i'm so excited for this new direction in my life, and i can't wait to share what i've been working on. it's going to be a crazy few weeks getting everything set up and going smoothly, but it's a crazy few weeks that i've been looking forward to for SO LONG.
if you read all of that, thanks for humoring me while i use my blog as a public platform to release all of my pent up excitement.
so come monday, i'll have my keys, it will be freshly painted a gleaming shade of white, and i will post some proper photos... 'til then, here's a shitty phone picture of my view.

next investment: a super comfortable couch to put in the studio, as i think i will want to sleep here too.

edit: THANK YOU for all of the kind words and encouragement- i can't tell you how much it means!

*tshirt some dude gave me that i cut up into a tank, UO shorts that i also cut up, boots given to me from my rad boss, gifted KONSTANTINO bracelet, UO hat, vintage peruvian llama bag, DIY dreamcatcher necklace that i made 2 years ago and never wear.

it's such a gorgeous day!!! if you don't know already, i HATE winter and everything that comes along with it (ie: dressing for the cold. not my steeze.) i feel 100% myself in attire appropriate for a 90 degree day at the beach. ie: this outfit.
i've been searching for the perfect flat brimmed black hat for months now, and just so happened to find this one at urban outfitters the other day. i'm not really a hat person, but i have a feeling i'm going to be wearing this with pretty much everything for awhile. hats have a strange way of completing an outfit no matter what.
(so here is the promised photo of the llama bag. insane, right?)

okay, on to the good stuff...
madeline works at konstantino, a high-end jewelry company sold most notably at neiman marcus. when she sent me a text message proclaiming that she had a $900 gold and silver bracelet with my name on it... i pretty much freaked out. i have NEVER in my LIFE owned anything this nice- part of me thinks i should have the clasp soldered shut so it will absolutely never come off of my wrist.
my bracelet is sterling silver and 18k gold, designed and handmade in athens, greece... as is all of their jewelry. konstantino is definitely one of the most ethical companies out there right now- supporting individual artisans and women while donating to charities and not practicing exploitation for financial gain (ie: outsourcing to china, bali, etc)
i've never been so proud and honored to wear a piece of jewelry before. you should really check out all of their stuff on the neiman marcus website- there are some amazing pieces that are semi-afforable, depending on your budget, such as this gorgeous pendant for $120: here

thank you madeline!!!

FLEA MARKET WITH MADELINE

as mentioned in my prior post, sunday was spent at the swap meet with maaaadeline. it was ALMOST an unsuccessful trip... until i found my peruvian llama bag. you can be damn sure that i will be posting better photos of it in the very near future because i am OBSESSED with it. it's totally uncomfortable and awkward and heavy... but... it has a llama on it. i mean seriously, i have no room to complain.

the rest of the photos (sans my shoe-mirror shot) are of madeline and moe and their awesomeness. i lost track of how many people stopped us just to pet moe... she somehow managed to be so much more attention grabbing than madeline and i, in all of our tie dye and snakeskin glory.

*marc by marc jacobs t-shirt that i cut sleeves off of, vintage cropped denim jacket, h&m shorts, thrifted boots

outfix remix wearing the same shorts and tights as my previous post... because that's what i do in real life. i wear the same things over and over and over for 1-2 weeks and then i never want to see them again. i do the same thing with music... work... men... hmm... starting to see a pattern here. let's just call it a slight mixture of OCD and ADD, for now.

spent my sunday yoga-ing, then swapmeet-ing and eating way too much brazilian food with three ridiculously radical girls: madeline and nicki and moe

yeah, i quoted ben folds five. what are you gonna do about it? that song was the JAM in elementary school. oh those were the days...

came to the studio to try to get some work done today. it's proven to be a difficult task what with all the issues that keep popping up. trying to get the next set of crystallized auctions up and running because they are SOOO GOOOD.
so i have major issues with photographing myself for this here blog. i feel like a total moron if someone sees me posing in front of a tripod. way back when i had a boyfriend, he was my personal photographer (which i'm realizing is how most of us bloggers do it)... and that was about a billion times easier than it is to not have a personal photographer. i was just having this conversation with madeline from jean greige last night over dinner (click the link to see what she wore to dinner, i'm IN LOVE with her mink pink lace-up top! and who the hell can pull off creepers THAT well? she is the cutest human being in existence)...
i'm hoping all of these silly little blogging issues will be solved once i get MY OWN STUDIO... which looks to be happening in the VERY NEAR future. so, expect to see more posts like this, against a wall. because my timid ass isn't going outside with a tripod anymore.

that was a whole lot of rambling. i HAVE to get back to work.

HISSSSSSSSS

wire and layla shoes from topshop

if you're a recent follower of my blog...
hi. my name is brit. i like snakeskin print. on anything.
go back a few pages. snakeskin pants are kind of my thing.
just so you know.
in case you don't like snakeskin print things...
because there's a lot of it on this blog.

...what i'm trying to get at is,
WHICH PAIR DO I GET?

MELBOURNE TIE DYE

it's photos like these that make me miss living in Melbourne, Australia.
people there are about 10x more interesting to look at. in my experience, anyway. the street style is TOO GOOD.
how rad is the blonde tie dye chick? i don't know her, but i want to.

harley davidson shirt and nine west boots from wasteland, bleached skinny jeans from UO, unintentionally destroyed long sleeve knit from h&m

another work outfit because all i do is work. and i like to be ridiculously comfortable when i work. one of these days i'll do an outfit post that's vaguely interesting...
sometimes (all the time) i think my outfits could be replicated by a wardrobe found whilst dumpster diving. this h&m top was once a fully functional crew neck long sleeve thingy with no pulls or tears or holes... then i got ahold of it, cut off the neck, and managed to somehow unintentionally rip the shit out of it. it's still one of my favorite things to wear hence it's battered appearance.

blah blah harley davidson t-shirt blah blah... i should just rename this blog to "that girl who wears too much harley davidson shit but doesn't actually ride a motorcycle."

okay, i'm off to get dinner with my ridiculously cool bud madeline from jean greige. i bet you'll be able to hear our jewelry jingling and clicking from a mile away while we feast on vegetarian thai foods.

*crystallized fringe velvet burnout long sleeve blouse, crystallized open knit beige cardigan, crystallized gold textured cocktail dress, crystallized cream boho fringe maxi dress.

after shooting a ton of new stock, i coaxed hannah into a little impromptu crystallized lookbook shoot in her downtown loft. i lived downtown for so long (and have worked/currently work there), so maybe it's purely based on nostalgia... but it gives me such a timeless feeling- like i could somehow stay young forever if i lived in a whimsical loft overlooking the city. upon typing this, i'm realizing that it IS purely based on nostalgia, since i lived there from 17 years old until 20 something... so i suppose downtown los angeles holds my last and most magical childhood memories.
so these are the result of our afternoon... hope you enjoy.
