*sheer black tank purchased from FAT while living in australia, vintage pants, shoes from the garment district, skull necklace from venice beach, vintage jewelry/belt.

i held myself back from screaming with delight after i found these pants in my all time favorite vintage shop for 22 dollars. from glancing at them on the hanger, i pictured them fitting low waisted and was absolutely thrilled to discover that they are super high-waisted, SUPER fitted, and the perfect awkwardly high-water length... just like a perfect 70's silhouette should be.
i have a very abnormally long torso, which makes high-waisted pants make me almost look proportionate. i'm 5'10", and i'm pretty damn sure all of my height is in my torso and neck. it's weird.

i put these babies on as soon as i got home and wore this outfit the rest of the day while finishing up some work at the studio. i enjoy the gypsy goth mixture today, as i've been full out au naturel hippie for a few weeks now. i still love me some black, skulls, and unnecessary straps... if only i had a motorcycle...

also found the most ridiculously perfect burnt orange velvet shorts. i'll be wearing these whilst on a mini-vacay with my boyfriend in Ojai this weekend... i'm on a weekend road trip bender- this is my third one in a row. can't wait to get back to Ojai and properly explore it, as i think it's one of the most beautiful places in california...

i am so in love with these that i can't assemble the thoughts into a tangible sentence that expresses said love.

i wonder why looking like a camel is so appealing to me...

okay, so my boyfriend and i are animal obsessed. i mean it. the rare times that we watch television, we ONLY watch national geographic or animal planet (well actually, we've watched housewives of orange county a few times because it's funny to hear him scream at the girls on tv). we point out every single animal that we pass on the street while walking or driving. we stop and talk to people's dogs. i made up a game about naming animals, which involves naming them after famous musicians or authors such as: a cat named Mick Jaguar, a horse named Paul McCartneeeigh, a deer named Fawn Lennon... you get the idea, right? we're crazy.

anyway, on saturday we took a drive 45 minutes out of town to go to the Sierra Cat Haven. it's a little place up in the hills owned by a man who loathes zoos, and houses the most beautiful endangered cats who were born in captivity, so they're unable to live in the wild. this guy has a very strange and unbelievable bond with his cats (including but not limited to tigers, cheetahs, and lions). if he calls them, they come running and will throw themselves on him in the most loving way i've ever seen. this place is truly amazing- all of the employees are volunteers, meaning that almost all of the money goes straight to preserving these beautiful endangered animals. i could go on and on and ON about how SICK it makes me that human encroachment has killed off so many incredible species, and how i think we humans are the most disgusting, selfish, horrid species in existence (obviously), but then my true animal rights activist side will show through and might scare you off... so i'll stop here. you should definitely check out the Sierra Cat Haven website, donate if you're able, or just to look at super cute cat pictures. here are some photos i took of the cats:

my boyfriend and i don't take part in any easter festivities... so we spent the day taking his dog for a walk, eating vegan chinese food, watching the new disney movie "african cats" (yes, i laughed, cried, and covered my eyes like a 4 year old), and went on one of our famous aimless drives leading us to somewhere beautiful, as per usual. we somehow always manage to find completely hidden areas, sneak into private breathtaking beaches with waterfalls, or stumble upon gorgeous places like the vast open field pictured above. although we aren't fond of easter, i couldn't resist busting out this absolutely perfect vintage skirt for the day, as i looked like a walking missioni easter egg, if such a thing existed. this skirt isn't missoni, but the incredible chevron pattern, flawless crisp pleating, and perfect sheerness makes me feel as if this were a very pricey skirt at one time. my boyfriend and i were both utterly shocked at how girly i looked, as i never wear skirts, let alone frolic around in fields whilst wearing them. all in all, it was a perfectly whimsical and romantic day.

snapped a few photos this morning when i got to the studio... i walked in and fell totally in love with it all over again, for some reason. i think i've been too busy and stressed to appreciate it lately, but this morning definitely changed that- i have SO MUCH to do in there to get it all set up... it's a bit overwhelming, but exciting nonetheless.

i spent the afternoon with madeline- she bought me lunch because she's just that sweet. we've been working on something that we are both so stupidly excited about that it's hard not to blab about it yet. since i don't have a table for meetings yet, i spread out my favorite blanket and we had a picnic/meeting that resulted in me rolling on the floor with laughter, both of us demeaning our abilities to edit, fondling leopard print fabric, and the mutual understanding of an infatuation with nude mesh.

*vintage leather biker jacket, silk dress worn as shirt, vintage diy cut off shorts, jeffrey campbell nation ankle boots, vintage silver belt, unearthen prism ring, turquoise necklace from mexico

apologies for the shit ton of pictures and crazy ocean hair.
after spending the entire day at the beach, we ended up in hillcrest. we ate THE most delicious mediterranean food, followed by somehow ending up in a store that sold snakes and pipes (i'm obsessed with snakes, by the way. i really want to have my own), then wandered into a pretty decent vintage/consignment shop... which is where i found this perfect vintage leather jacket. i've been looking for a true biker jacket for as long as i can remember, but can NEVER afford them... especially one with detail like this one has. and to top it off? the label is "CALIFORNIA RIDER". fucking perfect. and i got it for $55... which is a STEAL compared to other jackets like this one. i'll keep this baby for life.

this beach is going to be my new favorite place to escape to on weekends. it looked and felt like hawaii. the lighting while we were taking these photos was unparalleled- the photos do not do it justice. sigh. can't wait to get back there.

i'm in the process of trying to decide if i'm going to stay in echo park or move to the beach when my lease is up in a month. the only thing stopping me from choosing the beach is the cost of apartments there... but maybe, just maybe, i'll make it work. here's hoping. need to get my ass as close to the water as possible. i think i've had enough of east hollywood, as much as i've always loved it here... it's gorgeous, but i think i'm ready for a big change.
