KILL CITY

photography: graham dunn
creative director/makeup: kali kennedy
styling: brit nason

thanks to my amazing friend Kali, i got the opportunity to style Kill City's latest lookbook, Electric Summer. it was nearly a 15 hour day that started in downtown then migrated to west hollywood, topanga canyon, and ended on the santa monica pier. so insane but the finished product was well worth it.
we're headed down to the desert on friday to shoot the next Kill City lookbook, and all i'm going to say is HOLOGRAPHIC SHORTS. their new collection is literally perfect. so stoked to be in the desert in a beautiful house with good friends and style with kick ass clothes. follow me on instagram for picture updates... i already know i'm not going to want to come home.

first two photos by preston, wearing thrifted shirt.

and here we have my most half-assed blog post of all time, consisting of nothing more than party and dirty-mirror-myspace-esque instagram pictures.

TUNNEL VISION UPDATE

Select images from the Tunnel Vision August 2012 Lookbook
Photography: Blake Jacobsen
Styling: Brit Nason

As mentioned, Tunnel Vision is undergoing a slew of changes and updates. We're updating weekly, putting more attention into high end stock (while continuing to have plenty of affordable pieces!), welcoming new relationships (our photographer, the lovely Timony, and models Rachel and Enaia), as well as having our eyes set on a ton of other goals to accomplish as soon as possible.

We've been updating the store all week and will have more coming within the next few days, so check back often because new items are selling out quick!

As always, we can't thank you enough for all the support and kind words we receive on what seems like a daily basis. As cliche as it sounds, it really does keep us going and motivated. (Also, we would be lost without Isabel. FACT.)

SMASH THE STATE LEARN TO SKATE

*tunnel vision vintage renewed vest, super old FCUK tank, bad vibes sample shorts, vintage army bag, vintage motorcycle boots, vintage shell necklace, unearthen sphere ring

well, these shorts are a Bad Vibes sample. madeline and i designed a small line of bottoms at the end of last year, had patterns made (which took months, we were absolutely insane about getting the fit just right), had samples sewn up... and then got a price quote that made us die a little inside. production ain't cheap, especially when trying to go about it ethically, and neither is growing a small business.

it's torture having these beautiful things we created hanging in our studio, never being duplicated for people (including us) to enjoy wearing. we didn't want to post photos of any of the samples until we went into production, but i just couldn't handle not wearing at least one pair. 6 months of looking at these just hanging on a rack wasn't working for me.

it's on our very long to-do list to start producing affordable quality pieces. i wish days were twice as long and my bank account had a few zeros at the end of it instead of at the beginning.

on the bright side, we are working like crazy on the next update happening on monday. the vintage renewed vest i'm wearing above will be available among new photography, new models, a new lookbook, and a higher end vintage selection that we've been collecting from all over the west coast this month. can't wait!

BIG SUR PT. 2

*thrifted net sweater, vintage pants cut into shorts, DIY tie-dyed converse, vintage army bag from australia given to me by my brother, ethiopian cross pendant from bead shop in venice beach, bcbg sunnies from vintage shop.

the drive to big sur was my favorite part of the day. driving (especially along the california coast) with the windows down and music (this song on repeat) at full blast is my favorite and most beneficial type of therapy. i've done the drive from los angeles to the central coast more times than i can count, but this was the first time i had gone the extra 1.5 hours and made it all the way to big sur. now that i know how close it is, i'm planning on venturing up there much more often.
i'm almost finished reading kerouac's big sur, so it was definitely special for me to happen to go while being in the middle of one of my now favorite books.  as popular as kerouac might be, that does not lessen the value of his work. his written words are my first experience of realizing that my thought process and world view was shared with another human being and i am not alone. his struggle with the desire to be alone in the woods vs. his social alcoholic whirlwind lifestyle is something i identify with in the highest capacity.

it's always hard for me to adjust back to "normal" life after being on a trip like this one. it's so important to get away from it all and just be.

ROOMMATE: PAINTED COYOTE VINTAGE

meet Enaia, my roommate and vintage fashion extraordinaire behind Painted Coyote Vintage.
she has some amazing pieces listed on ebay right now with a little over one day before auctions end, and most listings still below $10... so check it out!

we've decided to join forces, so Enaia will be selling a hand-picked selection of her perfect vintage collection on Tunnel Vision this month!

we'll be updating Tunnel Vision stock weekly starting this Monday, so no more waiting a full month for new stock! we're undergoing a whole slew of changes and have been working like madwomen to make the store everything we want it to be. slowly but surely we'll get there. until then, you can see sneak peeks of new product, photo shoots, etc. on TV's instagram (@shoptunnelvision) or facebook page.
